Step 1 -  Determine a location.
A highly visible area close to the house is recommended. Near your patio or deck is an ideal location. Make sure your water garden is not in the lowest area of your lawn; runoff from lawn pesticides, drive way salt and garden fertilizers can pollute your pond. Your water garden will require at least six hours of full sun to ensure that your aquatic plants remain healthy. Try to avoid areas with lots of trees because there will be a lot of roots to dig through and they can also damage your liner in the future.
